The thing that strikes me the most about @glue is the clean, unabated UI. This is what social media platforms should strive for.

Sure thing. The best usability, design and experience are always the simplest in terms, but always difficult to create if you don't challenge yourself to say 'no' scope and complexity. Glue is living up to those principles as far as I can see.
