Yeah, I think private Drops is probably how I'll do it vs a separate messaging system which is a bit redundant.
Re bugs/improvements:
- I'll work on adding paste image to Compose
- Looking into those view bugs you mentioned
Thanks!
Makes sense!
Front-end is jquery/custom JS, not using a framework currently. Backend is Rails with Redis powering the timelines.
As we scale, migrating parts of the system over to crystal-lang.org which is a compiled/statically typed ruby.
Cool 🙌🤩!
Just me! 😆
Wow! This is amazing 🚀
UI looks nice! Whats the stack behind this?
I saw React on FE, what is BTS?
Here's what I'm working on currently for Glue:
· Search
· Better threading for Drops
· New blog sharing feature "snippets/quotes"
· New content post type (related to above)
· New activity/notifications indicator
· Bugs, bugs, bugs...
🕺⚡️🤓
What is the team size of Glue right now? Just curious (if its okay to reveal :) )
Yeah, shoot me an email noah@ark.fm or Twitter DM works...some sort of private Drop or private messaging system on Glue will probably happen eventually 😀
Private Drop is an interesting thing to have. Like extended `Close Friends` on instagram.
Send your drops only to certain niche of people.
Many times on twitter I dont want everyone to know my political views or the pure-tech geek side.
Sounds like the back-end is struggling to keep up? I don't have any experience with MongoDB, but I've generally used mysql / redis and they've been pretty fast with not much delay.
Under load is a different story, but generally Redis cache layer has solved that for me.
Oh gotcha! Thanks
I'll look into this. It *should* apply the "like" to the original drop. If you hit the Ripple button again, it should un-Ripple the Drop.
I'll test on my local dev box! 👍
What about having markdown-like support?
Most platforms don't support but is normal for blogging platforms.
If Glue can do something unique in representing the text (in some animation or something) how cool it can be!
Would love to talk more in PM/DM about GLUE!
Very cool how glue drops can go extra long.
Glue drops when tweeting: 💧
Glue drops when blogging: 🌊
P.S. Fixed scrolling bug and added to tooltips via:

Supersonic 🔥⚡
Good catch! Working on a fix for the scrolling issue and I'm also working on a "draft" feature for Drops which would work great with the "save/discard" idea.
Thanks for the feedback!
Always welcome :)
Sounds cool, gotcha! Have always been a fan of product development, and witnessing a journey of a brand-new app is exciting NGL!
I wish there was some glue code open source 😅, would have loved to contribute :)
Btw I loved the blog-feature of glue, which makes it quite unique content platform...
Interesting! Ruby on Rails is a tech I am gonna surely explore soon as I have seen its growth in industry.
Tho, I come from React bg, more of MERN/MEAN. I always ponder upon while building large scaled apps, how shall we decide the stack? What params got you incline to use Rails and not other MVC?
But I have mostly worked on my personal projects which are yet small sized, but want to scale.
Have used the above approach but would love to know your views (as you are PRO in product building ;p) so it would be a joy to listen to you upon this.

Also, while building an app with multiple features, what approach you follow.
I generally:
- Decide the must-have feats
- Model the database design
- Build UI design and flow
- Build the Frontend with dummy data and mock API
- Reiterate
- Start Backend integration and real APIs and DB
Sure! it’s built on Rails with redis for fast timeline delivery.
Lots of new features coming for blogging, custom domains, paid accounts and threading conversations 🔥

Welcome to Glue Soham! 👋
Already glued haha!
Would love to connect w you to understand what polymers make up this amazing glue 😍
Thanks
